This morning we had to drive back to RSPB Blacktoft Sands to pick up my wallet, but the return trip was worth it! On the way in to the headquarters we saw a bird feeder we’d missed the day before:

Dino enjoyed it, too:

Greenshank?

Moorhen

Redshank

Lapwings

Our next stop was at RSPB Freiston Shore.

All of these birds were seen from close to the visitor’s centre.
Mute swans

Redshanks

Wigeons (ducks)

Egret

Little grebe

Greylag goose

Rock Doves/Feral Pigeons

Goldfinches

Then we walked out to one their hides. Along the way, we saw this piece of art:

Probably white fronted geese

Again, we saw lots of shore birds – this group is distinctive because of the long straight bills, but I cannot definitely identify them:

Avocet

Duck, probably a mallard female

Water rail

Possibly shoveler females with some lapwings

Maybe a godwit?

A view across the marshes

Then we drove down to Snettisham and stayed at a lovely old inn, the Rose & Crown.
