Actually, before I made the quilts for Ralph and me, I made a couple of smaller quilts to practice. They were made from scraps that I decided to not use on our “real” quilts. The first was a “jelly roll race” quilt. In quilting terms, a jelly roll is a roll of 40-42 fabrics, usually from one line of quilting fabrics, cut into 2-1/2″ strips. A jelly roll race is using a lazy way to sew those strips together into a quilt. So here’s mine (56″ x 72″):
