Birth* | 3 July 1748 | Mathias Rinehart was born on 3 July 1748 at Unterhausen, Schwarzwaldkreis, Baden-Württemberg, Germany; "Birth Record spelled name as Matthaeus Reinhardt. Father: Johannes Reinhardt; mother: Agnes Staiger. Film Number 447923; Reference Number 81731". Source: Rinehart, Matthias Desc by Dorothy Taylor. "MATTHIAS RINEHART died prior to October 12, 1808 intestate in Newberry County, South Carolina. In September, 1772 he obtained a memorial for 100 acres of land waters on Crim's Creek (present Newberry County, South Carolina) bounding on land of John Mills, Martin Cromers (?), Conrad Shirers and John Rinehart. Mathias Rinehart served in the Revolution in the South Carolina militia under Capt. Houseal and Col. Waters from May 13, 1780 to November 16, 1782. He appears on the 1790 South Carolina Census in the 96th District of Newberry County, (page 78) under the name of MATTHAIS RANEHEART with two males 16 an over; two males under 16 and five females. On the 1800 South Carolina Census he appears under the name of MATTHIAS RHINEHART in Newberry District with one male 10 and under, two males 10 -16, one male 45 and up. We find in the intestate record mentioned above and from a land sale dated 1889 that the Matthis is named Anna Margaret LaGrone. She was the daughter of Tobias LaGrone and (?). The sale of Property in 1789 proves that she and Matthias were married by that date. The sale of Mathias Rhynhart property (personal) in 1808 does not shed much light on the names of his children. David and Mary Rhynhart shared in his estate and were probably children. All of the children listed below are mentioned in the settlement of the estate of Matthais Rinehart in 1808 as buyers of his personal property."
