We headed out to Halton where the Bucks County Museum Resource Centre houses the Embroiderers’ Guild collection. The ESP group got special access to the storage area and were shown samples of the collection by the curator.
The storage facilities – each item or group of item is stored in custom made muslin bags or in acid free boxes, wrapped in acid free tissue.
The Embroiderers’ Guild has traveling collections that are stored in carrying cases and that can be sent to various Guild chapters.
The collection was fabulous and overwhelming, even though we only got to see a very small part of it.
Once we all burned out on seeing the beautiful needlework examples, we had tea in the break room at the Resource Centre, then we returned to the hotel in Oxford.
