10 August – Kilmartin to Fort William

Today we spent time at the Kilmartin Museum which has a thorough overview of the history of the glen and many artifacts found in the valley. Then we drove up through the valley to see which of the sites could be seen from the road – but not many are visible without walking out to them. Then we stopped at Dunchraigaig cairn and Ralph walked out to the stone circle and a burial cist:

After that, we drove up to Fort William, at the south end of Loch Linnhe and the gateway to Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak.
