We drove from Fort William to Kyle of Lochalsh through some beautiful scenery:
Then we took the bridge over to the Isle of Skye, drove down to Kyleakin (by mistake since we took the wrong turn) and had a delicious lunch at the Castle Moil Restaurant. Next door was their gift shop and we bought a few things. Then we drove to Armadale where we caught the ferry to Mallaig. Even the little we saw of Skye today as beautiful:
The ferry we took across is in the distance:
Since I’d been unable to find a place to stay on Skye or in the Kyle of Lochalsh, Mallaig across the water was the closest place for rooms. The ferry ride was an experience in itself!
The Marine Hotel was very nice and only a block from the ferry docking point, so that worked out great. What was not so great was when we tried to get a ferry ticket to take the car back to Skye the next day, the earliest they could give us was at 6 PM! Ralph found a tour James’ Taxi Service) that we could join so we planned to go as foot passengers over the next morning and take the tour. More about that tomorrow.
